Requirements for Passing
To pass this course, you have toI also recommend to attend all classes, although attendance is not mandatory. There will be no final exam.
- successfully turn in all written assignments,
- successfully carry out and report on the warm-up project,
- successfully carry out a research project, which includes a proposal, an interim project report, and a final project report. For the project, you can team up with up to two other students.
- successfully pass the midterm exam
Policies on Handing in Assignments
In the interest of the trees in this world, the instructors prefer to run this course paper-free. All written assignments must be turned in electronically via email to jcchuang@stanford.edu.
- Every assignment has to be turned in on time, with the following exception: Every individual student will be granted a total of six late days. Those late days can be applied to any homework assignment, or a project report. For projects with multiple participants, all students accrue the sane number of late days
In the unlikely case that all late days have been used up, assignments and project reports will be worth zero credits (but still have to be turned in for passing this course).
Policy on Teaming
- Homework and warm-up assignments. You have to work on your own. No teaming.
- Project: You are encouraged to work in teams of up to three people for your research project (but not for your warm-up project).
- Reporting: When teaming, you have to declate the percentage effort provided by each team member in your project report. This will require that you track the level of effort and jointly agree on such a statement.
Policy on Grading
The grade will break down as follows:
- Written and programming assignments: 40%
- Midterm exam: 30%
- Research project: 30%
